Summaries for thematic area 1: Electrical heart diseases

This thematic area covers the inherited arrhythmia syndromes in which the heart is structurally normal. The electrical characteristics of the heart are altered (and abnormal) which is usually caused by variants in genes encoding for proteins that play a role in the electrical activity of the heart. Diseases included are Long QT syndrome (LQTS), Brugada syndrome, Catecholaminergic Polymorphic Ventricular Tachycardia (CPVT), Short QT syndrome (SQTS), Early repolarization syndrome, Progressive cardiac conduction disease, Idiopathic ventricular fibrillation, and unexplained cardiac arrest.
