AICARM: Italian Association for the study and research of CARdioMyopathies
Associazione Italiana per lo studio e la ricerca delle CARdioMiopatie
The AICARM Onlus Association provides support to patients with a cardiomyopathy, disseminates and increases knowledge and supports scientific research. Diseases covered by the association are familial cardiomyopathies:
- Arrhythmogenic cardiomyopathy
- Dilated cardiomyopathy
- Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy
- Restrictive cardiomyopathy
- Non-compaction cardiomyopathy
Our mission is to act as a forum of best practice for support groups of people with cardiomyopathies; to act as a resource base for the families of people affected by cardiomyopathies and to promote and advise on research into the wider manifestations of the Syndrome.
AICARM Onlus was set up in December 2019. We have set up a Scientific Committee, formed by Italian experts who know most about cardiomyopathies. We have successfully held three Patient Conferences: in 2021 in Florence, and in 2022 in Milan and Florence. In October 2022 we have launched a hotline called “Listening hearts” dedicated to patients and their families. We are an active member of both ERN GUARD-Heart and Global Heart Hub (Cardiomyopathy Council).
